Tamara Sloan, DVM

I joined the Cat Care Crew in March of 2004, and I became the Chief of Staff in December of 2019.  Since I come from a long line of “Crazy Cat Ladies,” I have the purrrrrfect job!

I grew up in the Chicago ‘burbs with anywhere from two to five cats.  I attended the University of Michigan with the intention of following my dad into human medicine.  I had already been accepted to medical school when I realized, late in my senior year, that I could combine two of my passions- medicine and cats.  Instead of going to medical school, I took a year off after college to apply to vet schools.  My husband, Pat, and I moved to Champaign-Urbana, Illinois, one month after our wedding so I could attend the University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine.  I graduated in 2002, and we immediately moved to the Detroit ‘burbs.  I worked for two years as a general small animal vet before landing my dream job here at Cat Care of Rochester Hills. 

Pat and I live with our four cats in the western suburbs.  Seamus (“shay-muss”) is our 2013-model buff and white boy, and he is the sweetest fellow!  His sister, Aine (“awwww-nya”), is a beautiful brown tabby girl with hints of tortoiseshell on her back.  We adopted two kittens in 2024- an orange girl named Ardara (“are-druh”) and a grey and brown tabby named Saoirse (“ser-sha”).
