Kimberly Hunt, DVM

I joined the Cat Care family in 2020, but kitties have always been part of my life! My first experience in the veterinary profession when I was younger was at an all feline clinic, where I started as a kennel technician and veterinary assistant. I grew up in the metro-Detroit area and have always called it my true home. 

I attended Michigan State University as an undergraduate, obtaining a B.A. in English Literature in 1996. After graduation I began a career in reference publishing, working as an editor and content manager for 16 years for a wonderful company. While I enjoyed my “old” career, I decided to finally pursue my dream of becoming a veterinarian and was accepted to the Michigan State University College of Veterinary Medicine, where I graduated in 2018. While it was certainly a challenge to be an older student in graduate school, I am so happy to be doing what I truly love! Being called to serve clients and their fur babies is truly gratifying and rewarding.

I share my home with Clementine, my one-year-old energetic female orange tabby (otherwise known as “Lil’ Stinker”) and my 16-year-old senior tuxedo kitty Honey. Clementine was a stray that came into the clinic I worked at previously and she certainly keeps me on my toes! I met Honey at “Meet Your Best Friend at the Zoo” 15 years ago and she has certainly lived up to being my best buddy. I enjoy reading for pleasure, catching up on good movies or television, spending time with friends on the water and the beach, and wandering up north to the Traverse City area, where I spent a lot of time as a
child.

I am a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, the Michigan Veterinary Medical Association, and, most recently, the American Association of Feline Practitioners. My professional interests are feline dental health and preventive care, and senior feline medicine. Prior to working at Cat Care, I worked for two years at a canine and feline small animal clinic in Southeast Michigan. 

I am looking forward to working with all our wonderful Cat Care clients and their kitties!
